ADAM AND BEC WOOLNOUGH WED IN HUNTER
31st October 2009
| More

When we chose our stunning front cover image we had no idea that the handsome groom beside the bride was well known footballer Adam Woolnough; it was one of our girls at WHITE, who worked for the Knights when dear old “Wooly” played for the local team, recognised his ruggedly good looks.

We definitely couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share with you a little of his wedding story and introduce you to the beautiful Mrs Wooly, cover girl extraordinaire of WHITE magazine. Enjoy their story and may it inspire you on your own adventure.

THE MEETING

The night that Bec walked in and out of Adam’s life was one he would always cherish. Their eyes met across a bustling restaurant on a popular eating strip in Newcastle, no words were spoken, no exchange of any sort, but those beautiful eyes belonging to the most beautiful girl came his way weeks later.  Some would say ‘how lucky’ or ‘a coincidence’ but we really think it was fate that bought these two together. Adam wasn’t about to let Bec walk out of his life again, so after exchanging numbers and a series of romantic dinners he prevailed in winning her heart.

FROM THE BRIDE – PLANNING, PLANNING, PLANNING!

On the countdown - Monday, 20 October 2008

Well, the time has come...10 days to go and counting. Well, we have been busy little beavers. Let’s start at the beginning shall we. The first thing we did was get Wooly’s tie. This basically set out the whole colour scheme. Then somehow I found my dress. After that we had to organise a photographer, venues and a church; all of which were done fairly smoothly... considering neither of us were all that interested in painstakingly searching for too long. Luke Gow was the first photographer we met, liked him...done. We either wanted a beach wedding or a vineyard wedding. Vineyard....wine...done. Not much to think about there. Nice little church with a chill out area.... done. And like that we had set a date, booked a venue and organised our photographer.

Over time we realised...if we have it on a Friday we can do a whole weekend wedding...PLUS

That’s a pretty big weekend, imagine the headache...MINUS

We can hang out with our family and friends all weekend.... big PLUS

We are getting married on Halloween ... oooh tricky one......I’m going to go with PLUS.

So I’ll save you the details but to give you a quick run down, I went to a bridal expo - all those brides in one place.... SCARY, I almost got stampeded over when the fashion show bell rang; I was like a deer in blinding white taffeta. Anyways, bit of a scary flash back.

So I realised we had a lot to do and so we knuckled down, laughed, smiled, got scared, yelled, got divorced, made up, giggled some more, didn’t speak, agreed, disagreed and confirmed bookings.

We met with Kirk our pastor who went through our preparing to wed course. We are still getting married so he must have done a good job! We had Adam's neck operation in the middle of all of this which allowed us to get a lot more organising done together. We turned Adam's hospital room into Wedding Central as Adam likes to have his two bob on all things. So I set up the computers, books, folders etc and we went full steam ahead.

This weekend Adam had written out a list of things we had to do.... let’s just say all my things were crossed off..... I’m beginning to think I’m somewhat of an organiser myself. So now we have a few small things to do or finish and then a week of relaxation and fun. END

THE DRESS

Hunting for the perfect dress can become quite a dilemma but with a little research and determination Bec found her perfect dress.  She visited shop after shop with sister-in-law Emma, who made a rule that she had to give every shop a go and try on more than one in each. This helped them work out what features looked good and what didn’t, what they liked and what they didn’t; because we all know that finding a picture of the perfect dress isn’t always going to cut it. Why it’s so often the last shop we visit, we do not know, but Emma pulled out a dress that ticked all the boxes and BINGO – there was a winner!

Ranked closely behind the Reception and the Ceremony, for Wooly, was the Honeymoon. This would be their time to start the rest of their lives together...

FROM THE GROOM- THE HONEYMOON Monday, 5 May 2008

Righto enough of all the sloppy stuff it’s holiday time! The honeymoon was right up there with our top priorities. We have been overseas a couple of times together, and prior to getting hitched, had planned a six to eight week holiday to Europe this year, once my footy commitments were over.

As anyone that is married knows, organising a wedding is a tad hectic. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying picking what colour napkins we should have and what scented candles should be place on whose table. But seriously, the big things like Bec’s dress, reception location, ceremony, groomsmen and bridesmaids are huge decisions. Until we started to read countless wedding mags, we didn't really understand who organised what. The bride has certain responsibilities, as does the groom. One that surprised us was that the groom traditionally looked after the honeymoon. Bingo! Something to really sink my teeth into!

Why not check out the WHITE wedding planning tools to ensure your day runs smoothly...

As I love organising things (especially for Bec), this is awesome. This is the most important organising I have done. Once we started to toss up different locations to spend our time, a thought sprung to mind. Why not take the reins and completely organise the honeymoon by myself.

This means that Bec will have no say in where we are going and no idea. I will be packing her bags for the trip; absolute secrecy is essential. My grand plan is for us to turn up at the airport, with Bec still none the wiser, where she will only find out where we are off to when I give her the ticket.

As you can image, this is a little tough on Beccy. She really wants to know where we are going. Every time I start talking to anyone about it, Bec seems to walk in on the conversation. Naturally the talk stops and this only frustrates her more. But the one thing above all else that Bec can’t stand about this arrangement is that she receives regular updates where we are of too.....without the location being named. I might be at home after training and be watching a travel show on TV and a fantastic place might come on, and bang that’s where we are going. I will send a text to Bec saying that the location is picked. This has happened several times so far.

So, as you can tell, I have really taken this organising to new level. But it's fun and I'm loving it. So, where will Mr & Mrs Woolnough be heading...

WHITE is happy to inform you that after all that planning, the Woolnough wedding was a complete success, and the couple eventually spent their honeymoon in the Maldives; a destination that Bec had only dreamed of visiting! So if you, or your groom, feel that wedding planning is the domain of the bride, rest assured there are plenty of things you can be involved in. WHITE offers online planning tools to help you delegate tasks and make sure that no one feels left out! Relax, take your time, and most of all, have fun!!
